About Program

Program Overview

The graduate sequence in Art Education emphasizes both theory and practice in visual arts, museum, and community arts education. Theoretical ideas are explored through both historical and contemporary models, including culturally responsive, anti-racist, and social-emotional approaches, with an emphasis on practical education and application. You will have the chance to elaborate concepts in tranditional and digital media while interacting and collaborating with stakeholders in a range of settings. Students with a bachelor's or master's degree can pursue an M.S. degree in Art Education while working toward licensure. Most courses for the non-licensure master's degree can be taken online. Part-time students will be required to take two courses during one summer session to meet residency requirements.
